Grid computing in Asia remains low, but interest is high

Asia Pacific companies are well of aware of the benefits of grid computing technology but adoption remains low, a recent study commissioned by Oracle said.

According to the third Oracle Grid Index research, Asia Pacific leads the world in terms of awareness and readiness to grid computing. However, very few companies in the region are implementing it due to various concerns such as security, difficulties in implementation, and the cost of doing it.

The Oracle Grid Index research, done by third-party firm Quocirca, maps the readiness and adoption rates all over the world based on certain indices, namely foundation readiness, knowledge, interest and adoption lifecycle.

“Asia Pacific trails in grid computing adoption, although awareness is high and there’s a strong intent among companies in this region to use this technology,” Roger Scott, Oracle Asia Pacific vice president for technology sales consulting, said in a briefing.
