STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Tokyo slips but energy stocks rise

Asian stock markets were mixed on Tuesday with Tokyo down slightly as investors sold shares such as MUFG, the worlds biggest bank by assets, a day after it posted a drop in profit.

Higher oil prices helped drive energy stocks such as Australias Woodside Petroleum higher. U.S. crude was at $74.35 in early trade, up from a low of $72.77 on Monday.

At 0025 GMT, Tokyos Nikkei average < .N225> had lost 0.18 percent as chip-tester maker Advantest Corp. (6857.T: Quote, Profile, Research), industrial robot maker Fanuc (6954.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) (8306.T: Quote, Profile, Research) all fell over 1 percent.

I expect trade here to be bound to a narrow range, said Hiroyuki Nakai, chief strategist at Tokai Tokyo Securities.
