Willoughby off to Asia
Willoughby off to Asia
Well almost…… Willoughby City Band interrupted their preparations for the upcoming NSW state championships to record a track to be used at the Asian Games, to be held in December in Doha, Qatar.
The first Asian Games took place in Delhi in 1951 and had a mere 11 countries participating in 6 sports. Now they are the second largest sporting event in the world (behind the Olympics) and the countries involved make up over half the worlds population.
Willoughby have been given the honour of recording the Olympic Council of Asia Hymn to be used during the closing ceremony when the flag is lowered in the stadium on 15th December.
