Asia: Stocks wallow at 2-week low

Asian stocks fell to a two- week low on Thursday, led by electronics companies like Canon and Hon Hai Precision Industry, after brokerage firms cut sales estimates for Dell and Apple Computer.

Technology demand is not really flying at the moment, said Khiem Do at Baring Asset Management in Hong Kong. One has to be quite selective at this stage because there are no real new killer products to fire the imaginations of tech analysts.

The Morgan Stanley Capital International Asia-Pacific index fell 0.93 points to 124.49, its lowest level since June 29. Technology companies like Hon Hai, which makes parts for iPod digital music players, were the biggest drag on the regional measure.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 lost 151.37 points to 15,097.95, while the Kospi in South Korea fell 11.67 points to 1,285.02. Measures in other markets open for trading declined, except in the Philippines and Pakistan.
