Germany interested in Singapore’s assessment of Asia: PM Lee

The German leaders are aware that Asia’s development can affect them profoundly and are interested in Singapore’s assessment of Asia.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said this to reporters as he rounded off his 3-day introductory visit to Germany in Stuttgart.

While in Stuttgart, Mr Lee visited the Bosch headquarters.

The facility is responsible for many research breakthroughs - with a daily average of 12 patent applications.

It raked in 40 billion Euros in sales last year, hiring 250,000 employees in some 33 countries.

Bosch hopes to more than double its presence in the Asia-Pacific over the next 10 years, from 14 per cent to 25 per cent.

Its regional sales subsidiary in Singapore is also in talks with the Economic Development Board to push for the use of bio-diesel passenger cars in the city-state.

Tests have yet to be completed on samples from their 11-year-old sister, who died of suspected bird flu on Friday.
