Telecom equipment sales to reach US$47 billion in Asia-Pacific in 2007
The Asia-Pacific telecom equipment market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.6% from US$43 billion in 2005 to US$47 billion in 2007, according to In-Stat. Major growth drivers in the region include the expansion of all types of networks in China and India, accelerating deployment of high-speed Internet access networks in developed markets including Japan and South Korea, as well as the implementation and extension of third-generation (3G) wireless networks throughout the Asia-Pacific equipment market, the market research firm noted.
As competition will intensify in the marketplace, equipment vendors will have to differentiate themselves to win projects by excelling in a focused product area or providing comprehensive choices and end-to-end solutions, In-Stat indicated. Market consolidation may happen among service providers in weaker positions, the research firm expects.
A recent In-Stat report found that the India telecom equipment market will have the fastest CAGR of close to 10%, for 2005-2007.
