HCM City ranked third inexpensive city in Asia

HCM City was recently ranked the third cheapest Asian city for ex pats to live in, according to a survey recently conducted by ECA International, a human resource organisation.

HCM City ranked third behind Dhaka, in Bangladesh, and Manila, in the Phillippines, while Ha Noi ranked as the 8th cheapest city for ex pats living in Asia.

The survey covered 39 Asian cities and more than 250 locations around the world.

The survey based the cost of living on 125 goods and service including groceries, alcohol and tobacco, clothing, electrical goods, cars and restaurant meals.

Officials rebrand Zamboanga as Asias Latin City The local government formally launched on Thursday the branding of Zamboanga as Asias Latin City in a simple ceremony held during the opening of the 15th Mindanao Business Conference at the Astoria Regency, Pasonanca Park, here. Mayor Celso Lobregat explained at the project launching the basis for branding the Zamboanga as a Latin city is the existence of Chavacano, a derivative of the Spanish language that in turn is an outgrowth of Latin, the old Roman tongue. Chavacano is spoken by a majority of the people here, in Basilan and other parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Hotel, convention center to rise at SM Mall of Asia A new hotel and a convention center will soon rise at the sprawling SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City to cater to both international and domestic visitors. Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said the construction of the two tourist facilities along Roxas Boulevard would help accommodate the influx of international tourists to the country.
