Attorney general says nothing criminal about Lingle Asia trip
State Attorney General Mark Bennett says he’s found nothing criminal in how Governor Lingle’s administration selected a nonprofit to handle donations to fund a trade mission to China last year.
Bennett looked into the issue after questions were raised by House Majority Leader Marcus Oshiro.
He asked for a summary of steps Bennett’s department would take to investigate possible violations of procurement laws by the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
The nonprofit Pacific and Asia Affairs Council was hired to handle finances for the China trip. It paid about seven-thousand dollars out of corporate donations collected to fund the mission.
