Robert Walters profit up on Asia Pacific growth
British recruitment consultancy Robert Walters Plc said annual pretax profit had risen by 57 percent, driven by the Asia Pacific region, and that the market continued to be strong.
Pretax profit for the year to end-December was 12.7 million pounds ($22.2 million), up from 8.1 million pounds a year ago, the company said on Monday.
“It (the profit) is quite a simple story in many ways – it’s just the investment we’ve been making in a lot of new business areas and scaling up existing business areas showing through,” Chief Executive Robert Walters told Reuters.
“All regions traded strongly, with Continental Europe and Asia Pacific in particular showing substantial growth,” Walters said in a statement.
Analysts at Seymour Pierce said, “The full-year 2005 results from Robert Walters were well ahead of market expectations … due largely to a very strong performance in the Asia Pacific region.” They maintained an “Outperform” recommendation.
