Asia Foundation’s donated books on display

A selection of the 600 English-lan-guage books donated by the Asia Foundation are on display at an exhibition that kicked off yesterday at the National Library in Ha Noi.

The books on display are among approximately 160,000 books that the Asia Foundation, a non-profit NGO, has given to Viet Nam’s libraries since 1993. The books are worth nearly US$5 million.

“The purpose of this book donation programme is to improve the scientific knowledge of Vietnamese citizens, and to promote the development of various educational fields in the country,” said Dr Ann Hudock, assistant representative of the Asia Foundation’s Ha Noi Office.

“Additionally, the programme also contributes to strengthening mutual understanding, co-operation, and friendship between the people of Viet Nam and the US,” she said.

Who discovered America? A map supporting claims that the Chinese admiral Zheng He reached the New World in the early 15th century is obviously a hoax We all know that a lie goes halfway round the world while truth is putting on its boots.
