Asia’s largest Christian convention begins
The 111th edition of the Maramon Convention, believed to be one of Asia’s largest Christian conventions began here Sunday.
The week-long Maramon Convention is organised by the Evangelistic Association, which is the missionary wing of the Mar Thoma Church.
“This convention is not just a meet of Marthomaites alone, instead it is being attended by all sections of Christians and people of all religions come to hear the speeches,” said Dr Joseph Mar Irenaeus Suffragan Metropolitan, president of the Evangelistic Association of the Mar Thoma Church.
Following the tradition since 1896, the convention is held on the Pampa riverbank at Maramon, 16 km from here.

Hotel, convention center to rise at SM Mall of Asia
A new hotel and a convention center will soon rise at the sprawling SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City to cater to both international and domestic visitors.
Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said the construction of the two tourist facilities along Roxas Boulevard would help accommodate the influx of international tourists to the country.
The Mall of Asia complex, which sits on 19.5 hectares of reclaimed land in what is called Bay City, is envisioned to be the next tourist attraction in Metro Manila.

Asia's largest Trade Fair concludes, Gujarat, Russia win 'Best Pavilion' awards
The fortnight-long 25th India Fair (IITF), the largest trade fair in Asia, came to an end with a colourful ceremony here on Sunday.
Hundreds and thousands of people thronged on the closing day which witnessed participants from across thend states within the country, concluded with awards being given away to the pavilions in different categories.
In domestic pavilions category, Gujarat bagged the goldand Kerala and Chhattisgarh were awarded silver medals.
While in foreign pavilion category, Russia was awarded gold medal and Thailand won silver medal.

Turkey signs to join planned Asia-Pacific space group
Turkey signed on a charter for a planned international space club on Thursday in Beijing, making it the ninth member of the organization with headquarters.
Oktay Ozuye, Turkish ambassador to China, signed the Convention on the proposed Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), which is designed to promote the peaceful use of space and space applications in the Asia-Pacific region.
Among those witnessing the ceremony were diplomats from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru and Thailand, the eight countries that signed the document last October in Beijing.
