SE Asia lures Indian tourists with holiday packages, freebies

Holiday packages and shopping festivals, coupled with exotic holiday and honeymoon locations are boosting travel from India to the south east (SE) Asian countries including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

According to Cox & Kings executive director Arup Sen, 60-70% of the expected 7.5 million outbound tourists in 2005-06 from India will travel to the SE Asian destinations.

Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has launched special travel packages in association with various travel agents this winter season.

Indians can avail of options such as five-day, four-night packages starting from as low as Rs 16,999.
